Strategic Industries Workforce Development Grant (SIWDG)

Students interested in entering a field in which there are plenty of jobs openings can choose to enroll in one of 12 programs of study for which FREE TUITION is available!

The Strategic Industries Workforce Development Grant (SIWDG) can be the boost a student needs to get started on rewarding career in a well-paying job, and without accumulating a lot of student debt.

It also helps Georgia employers by creating a pipeline of skilled workers they can hire well into the future.

To be eligible for the Strategic Industries grant, students must first qualify for and be receiving the HOPE Grant. The two grants together will cover all tuition in these 12 programs of study. Students will still be responsible for student fees and any equipment necessary, although in some cases, financial aid is available for those as well.

A few other things to know about the Strategic Industries grant:

To get started, use the TCSG College Map to find the college nearest you. Then click on the career below that interests you and click on “list of colleges” to see if that college, or another one nearby, offers courses in your desired field. You can also click on “show programs” to find out what specific majors each college offers. To register, click on the college’s name and follow the instructions specified by that college.

Industry Grant helping Johnathon Navas’ goal come true

June 9, 2016

Valdosta, GA – Two years ago Johnathon Navas walked across the stage at Berrien High School, shook the hands of school administrators and walked off the stage a high school graduate. While in high school Johnathon participated in the dual enrolment program with Wiregrass Technical College and earned college credit. He also took agricultural classes while in high school and that’s when he discovered welding. “We learned how to weld farm equipment, and I knew then I wanted to be a welder,” shared Navas.
