International Outreach

The Technical College System of Georgia’s International Center for Technical Education enhances the worldwide outreach of the system office and the state’s 22 technical colleges.

The goal of the center is to build greater recognition of the TCSG education programs around the world while also working to expand new and existing international student and faculty exchange at the TCSG colleges.

TCSG Commissioner Gretchen Corbin states that the International Center opens new avenues for the sharing of technical education best practices in the global market. “TCSG’s long-term goal is to align our international programming with Georgia’s strategic international outreach and partnerships. When global companies come to Georgia, we are poised to meet their needs. We welcome even more international students than we already have. Being in step with the state’s many global initiatives means that we are in step with Georgia’s future, and we are expanding opportunities for TCSG students.” said Corbin.

The TCSG International Center works in collaboration with countries and colleges that are interested in developing and improving their technical workforce through higher education partnerships and the sharing of people, programs and the best education policies and procedures.  In addition to faculty and student exchange programs, international partners can receive TCSG assistance with technical education curriculum, faculty training, college system management, and consultation on accreditation.

The office works closely with the Georgia Department of Economic Development, the University System of Georgia, and the TCSG’s own Quick Start workforce training program regarding business recruitment projects for Georgia.

Dr. Ian Bond is the Executive Director of the International Center. For more than 25 years he has initiated, led, and managed international projects in education and humanitarian relief, as well as social and economic development in many countries worldwide. As former president of a liberal arts university, he developed strong ties with educators and institutions in China. “The International Center will strengthen the overall mission of the TCSG to create a competitive workforce in Georgia, while also opening avenues for greater awareness in the worldwide education community about the TCSG colleges and the outstanding quality of our faculty and students. Our plan is to forge international partnerships that will enable the TCSG to solidify its goal of becoming a global leader in technical education,” said Bond.
