Medical Assisting Adjunct Instructor (VLD)

Under general supervision, will maintain classroom management appropriate to the learning environment; maintains and reviews up to date records and reports regarding student grades, attendance, work ethics, certification, licensure results, and other required documents; demonstrates the use of appropriate teaching techniques; demonstrates the effective use of oral and written communication skills; provide instruction based on approved curriculum; evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives; demonstrates the use of appropriate testing and grading procedures; follows approved course syllabus; maintains supplies and equipment and submits required reports as necessary and in a timely manner. As needed and directed by the program coordinator, develops and coordinates student participation in practicum, externships, clinical experiences, and clinical/externship contracts; submits clinical or externship rotation schedules in a timely manner to appropriate individuals. The willingness to recruit and encourage students of underrepresented gender in nontraditional programs for their gender.
Position may include variable hours. Requirements include ensuring a safe and healthy work environment by complying with college health and safety policies, standard practices in maintaining occupational health and safety legislation and regulations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Diploma in Nursing or Medical Assisting and instruction in educational theory and techniques. Must be credentialed in Medical Assisting by an organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA). Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal and organizational skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associate’s degree in Nursing or Medical Assisting preferred. Credentialed in medical assisting by a credentialing organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), ideally the American Association of Medical Assistants is greatly desired. Teaching experience in post‐secondary and/or vocation/technical education a plus.
SALARY/BENEFITS
Salary is commensurate with education and experience. All adjunct positions are part‐time temporary, less than 27 hours per week, based on student enrollment each term, and do not include benefits or a promise of future full‐time employment.
