Sydney Fish is a senior Work-Based Learning (WBL) student at Morgan County High School: A Georgia College and Career Academy. Sydney has a deep passion for flowers and pursued that passion by creating her own floral business from scratch through our Agriculture, Entrepreneurship, and WBL programs.

Through piloting the new Entrepreneurship curriculum during the Fall of 2023, Sydney was able to take her passion and achieve new heights. Sydney began her floral venture, aptly named “Sydney’s Flowers and Floral Events”, her 10th grade year when deciding what project to pursue for her Supervised Agriculture Experience (SAE).

Kevyn Jones, a senior at Calhoun College and Career Academy at Calhoun High School epitomizes the characteristics of an outstanding College and Career Academy Student of the Year. During her high school career, Kevyn completed 9 Dual Enrollment courses through Georgia Northwestern Technical College and Chattahoochee Technical College.

Kevyn currently has over 400 hours of community service in healthcare settings, disaster relief and assisting with school-related events. Following completion of her undergraduate degree, she will apply to various medical schools in pursuit of a Doctorate in Medicine. Eventually, she hopes to become an orthopedic surgeon.

Regina Howard has consistently proven to be an asset to JVHS CCA by being an outstanding example of our mission in producing students who are "present, prepared, and professional". She has completed our "Teaching as a Profession" pathway and plans to enroll at Columbus State University, where she intends to complete her undergraduate work as a teacher.

In addition to being a varsity athlete, Regina works part-time and has been nominated to be a Page One Award recipient, as well as CTAE Student of the Year for Muscogee County School District.

Laila is an active member and officer of Future Business Leaders of America. The past year of which she has been our co-President. Laila is organized, efficient, extremely competent, and has an excellent rapport with people of all ages. Her communication skills, both written and verbal, are excellent. She has participated in Criminal Justice dual enrollment pathway and Computer Science pathway.

She is involved on the E-Sports team. Laila plans to major in Cybersecurity, and minor in Psychology. She has a passion for developing websites, the human psyche, and psychology. Newton College and Career Academy has encouraged her to step outside of her comfort zone and blossom into a curious and successful young adult.

Brandon Carlos started Work-Based Learning in 2022 as an employee at Dairy Queen while exploring the construction industry. Spring of 2023, Brandon transitioned to the HCSD Trades in Training program. That experience led him to seek HVAC jobs & complete his HVACR pathway. Brandon is graduating a year early, top 10 of his 2024 class with several industry certifications; EPA 608 Universal, OSHA 10, Trac-Pipe, Pallet Jack, CPR, Fire Extinguisher, Tape Measure & Georgia BEST. Brandon was also awarded a scholarship through the Conditioned Air Association of GA and landed a full-time apprenticeship with Lawson Air Conditioning & Plumbing.

Brandon was the only Hall County student awarded the CAAG scholarship and competed with other students across the state of Georgia. He is very respectful, dedicated and has a strong desire to succeed. He has participated in several leadership seminars through Work-Based Learning and signed up for many trades industry tours to make sure he was pursuing the right field of work. He completed his research and took the right path to success. Lanier College & Career Academy is VERY proud of Brandon and would love to see him earn this recognition.

Madison Reaves is an exceptional Senior Healthcare Science student, embodying drive and dedication both academically and in her community. With 30 technical college credit hours and a Clinical Medical Assisting Certification, she clinched first place in the medical assisting competition at Georgia HOSA State Conference, advancing to the International HOSA Conference in Houston. Alongside 125 clinical internship hours with Atrium Acute & Inpatient Physical Therapy and over 130 hours of community service, Madison showcases unwavering commitment to others' well-being. Set to pursue Exercise Science & Wellness at JSU, she lays the groundwork for her aspiration of a doctorate in physical therapy. In addition to her academic accomplishments, Madison's athletic achievements are impressive. She has been recognized as an All-Region softball player for three consecutive years, demonstrating her skill and dedication to her sport. Her participation in travel softball from 2020 to 2023 further highlights her commitment to teamwork and personal development both on and off the field. Then to top it all off, Madison has created her own softball instructional business giving pitching lessons to fellow softball players.

Overall, Madison Reaves exemplifies the qualities of a driven and dedicated student who is not only excelling academically but also making a difference in her community and pursuing her dreams with determination and enthusiasm. She is truly deserving of recognition in the technical college system of Georgia student spotlight.
