The Technical College System of Georgia System Office is pleased to announce that we will host the 2019 Student Data Summit conference on September 25-27 at the Renaissance Atlanta Waverly Hotel and Convention Center.
The Student Data Summit is a data-focused conference for college staff who enter, report on, and analyze student data. Conference programming is under development but will include an overview of TCSG student data systems as well as targeted content for peer groups. Conference sessions will focus on data standards, functional usage and data validation. We will also have general sessions on data handling, privacy and security. Participants will gain a better understanding of systems that are used to collect and report student data. Peer group sessions will help staff answer the following questions:

How to safely and legally handle student data and personally identifiable information (PII) in accordance with FERPA and open records laws. What are best practices for handling, storing and transmitting data?
Technical Boot Camps
Functional training sessions on Banner and other key applications, including Cognos, Financial Aid applications, TEAMS and Degree Works.
Understanding and Applying TCSG Data Standards
Overview of TCSG’s data standard repository, review of key data standards relevant to each peer group, review of recent changes, purpose of data standards, application of standards and relevant reporting.
Data Reporting
Understanding which Banner data TCSG pulls into its Management Information System, what edit checks are applied, how data are reported and how they are used. Sessions will be tailored to individual peer groups in order to focus on the data and reports that are most relevant for each role. Topics will include dual enrollment reporting, KMS reports and dashboards, enrollment and graduate reporting, placement reports, financial aid and external reporting.
