Position: Industrial Systems Technology & Mechatronics Technology Instructor

Location: All Campuses

Department: Division of Business, Industry, & Technology

Reports to: Divisional Academic Dean

Salary/Benefits: Salary is commensurate with education and experience. State of Georgia benefits package.

Responsibilities:

  • Under general supervision, instruct students in Industrial Systems Technology & Mechatronics Technology skill areas.
  • Follow state standards in developing program and course outlines, goals, and objectives.
  • Develops syllabi to meet program and school objectives.
  • Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives.
  • Requests and maintains supplies and equipment, and prepares required budget requests.
  • Maintains program certification requirements, as appropriate.
  • Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports.
  • Attends staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences.
  • Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area.
  • Responds in a timely manner to administrative requests.
  • Meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students’ instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of the students.
  • Assists with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts.
  • Maintains program certification requirements, as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates strong time management and organization skills.
  • Demonstrates effective written and oral communication.
  • Contributes to the writing of accreditation and assessment reports
  • Demonstrates general computer knowledge (Microsoft Word, Excel)
  • Assists with student recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Industrial Systems Technology, Precision Manufacturing, Advanced Manufacturing, Mechatronics, or a related field from an accredited college or technical institution.
  • Three (3) years’ work experience in a position related to Industrial Systems Technology.
  • Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), fluid power, industrial mechanics, instrumentation, and AC/DC Theory.
  • Must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the courses assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering from an accredited college or technical institution.
  • Industry or teaching experience in Introduction to Mechatronics, Industrial Mechanics, Fluid Power Systems, Industrial Motor Controls, Basic Industrial PLC’s, Industrial Instrumentation, Hydraulics and Pneumatics, and other Industrial Systems Technology based courses.
  • Industry or teaching experience with Mechanical Hands-on Training Equipment, Hydraulic Instructional Paraphernalia, Pneumatic Training Apparatus, Practical Mechanical Teaching Systems and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) System Devices (Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLC Systems).
  • Familiarity with training systems such as Festo, SMC, and Amatrol Virtual Training Software.
  • Three (3) years’ work experience within the last seven (7) years in a position related to Industrial Systems Technology.
  • Previous teaching experience in a post-secondary environment.
  • Previous online teaching or training experience, including the use of video capture tools.
