Managing Director of Cabin Experience, Technical Operations Delta Air Lines, Joseph McDermott is responsible for all aspects of the aircraft cabin including maintenance and the inflight entertainment experience. Joe has oversight of over 875 aircraft within the Delta fleet portfolio, ensuring the aircraft are safe and reliable while providing a stellar customer experience.
Joe served in the United States Air Force and worked as a Hydraulics Technician on nuclear submarines as a government employee. He received his Bachelors of Science Degree in Professional Aeronautics from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. He also attended the Emory University Goizueta Business School, was educated on Lean Systems at the University of Tennessee and received his Airframe and Powerplant license.
Joe’s personal vision statement is that ‘Organizational alignment around a product orservice is a key to success. We asleaders should rally around just two simple words – “To Provide.” Keeping the strategy simple in a complexbusiness is critical and it must be easily understood. We “provide” process, paperwork, parts,aircraft, training etc. If everyone inthe organization does their job right, the chances of setting up the frontlinefor success significantly improve.’
